Visual Basic .NET Web Services - Online Course

This series explains how to use Visual Basic .NET to create Web-based applications that manipulate XML data. Courses in this series cover accessing and manipulate data, creating distributed applications and services, as well as testing, debugging, and deploying the completed application.

.NET Remoting and Web Services teaches you how to create and consume a .NET remoting object, configure remoting on the client and the server, create a .NET Web service, enable discovery of a .NET Web service, and create a SOAP extension. This course shows learners how to create distributed applications using Visual Basic .NET. Lesson 3: Windows Services and Component Services (3.0) hours

Windows Services and Component Services teaches you how to create a Windows service, install a Windows service, implement a services component, register and configure COM+ components, and use the Component Services tool. This course shows learners how to create and install Windows services using Visual Basic .NET and how to make services created in the .NET framework available to the COM+ infrastructure. Lesson 4: Testing, Debugging, and Deployment (2.0) hours

Testing, Debugging, and Deployment teaches you how to create a unit test plan, configure trace listeners and display trace output, execute tests and debug errors, log test results, create a setup program, and register components. This course shows learners how to test, debug, and deploy Visual Basic .NET applications. Topics include Testing and tracing, ASP.NET tracing, Debugging, Event logs and performance, Counters, Deploying private assemblies, Deploying shared assemblies, Packaging a .NET application for deployment, and Deploying server applications.

Lesson 5: Security Issues (2.0) hours

Security Issues teaches you how to implement code access security, configure authentication, configure authorization, and implement identity management. This course shows learners how to implement code-based and role-based security for .NET applications. Topics include Understanding security, Granting permissions, Computing permissions, Configuring authentication, Implementing impersonation, Security for Windows services, Security for Web services, Remoting security, and Enterprise services security.
