This course provides an introduction to Project Management, the Project Management Framework, and Project Initiation. Topics include Project Management Basics, Project Management and Related Areas, General Management and Project Constraints, Project Management Processes, The Importance of Project Initiation, Project Selection Methods, and Stakeholder Identification.
Lesson 3: Project Planning Processes (2.0) hours
Project Planning Processes teaches you how to summarize information about the Planning Process Group, explain what makes a WBS so important to a project, explain how the activity processes in the Planning Process Group affect the project schedule, identify some common pitfalls that apply to cost estimation, describe how effective risk management can impact a project, and explain the importance of good communication skills. This course provides an introduction to the Planning Process Group and the activities that take place within that group. This includes development of the project management plan, the WBS, and the project schedule. Topics include The Planning Process Group, Work Breakdown Structure, The Activity Processes, Schedule Development, Estimating Costs and Determining a Budget, Risk Management Principles and the PMI Philosophy, and Communications Planning.
Lesson 4: Project Execution and Quality Management (2.0) hours
Project Execution and Quality Management teaches you how to define a project management plan, list the key PMI quality management principles, describe the tools and techniques for developing a project team, discuss the Distribute Information process, recognize who is responsible for managing stakeholder expectations, and define Project Procurement Management. This course provides an introduction to the Executing Process Group and the project management processes that make up this group. Topics include Direct and Manage Project Execution, Project Quality Management and the PMI Philosophy, Perform Quality Assurance, Developing a Project Team, Distribute Information, Manage Stakeholder Expectations, and Procurement Management Principles and the PMI Philosophy.
Lesson 5: Project Monitoring and Control (1.0) hour
Project Monitoring and Control teaches you how to summarize the Perform Integrated Change Control process, describe Project Scope Management, list the inputs, tools and techniques, and outputs to Verify Scope and Control Scope, explain how Monitor and Control Risks fits within Project Risk Management, and describe the purpose of performance reporting. This course provides information about the project management Monitoring and Controlling Process Group processes. Topics include Performing Integrated Change Control, Project Scope Management, Performing Quality Control and Monitoring Risks, and Reporting Performance.
Lesson 6: Project Closing (1.0) hour
Project Closing teaches you how to describe the two processes that compose the Closing Process Group, identify the documents that are considered a part of procurement documentation, list the criteria necessary to ensure project closure, describe the importance of lessons learned, and describe the methods for ending a procurement or project. This course provides information about the project management Closing Process Group. It also covers procurement documentation and dealing with closing procurement contracts. Lesson 7: Professional Responsibility (1.0) hour
Professional Responsibility teaches you how to define conflict of interest, list the four values most important to the global project management community, explain the difference between aspirational and mandatory standards, and discuss the criteria that must be met to file an ethics complaint. This course provides information about the PMI Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct and the values that support the Code. Topics include What Is Professional Responsibility, Responsibilities to the Profession, and Additional Responsibilities.
