Project 2007 - Online Course

This series is for anyone who wants to learn the most commonly used features of Microsoft Office Project 2007. This online course contains 8 lessons and should take approximately 16 hours to complete.

Lesson 1: Getting Started with Project 2007 (2.0) hours

Getting Started with Project 2007 teaches you how to discuss the basic concepts of project management such as setting a goal and planning, revising, and tracking a project, identify basic project management terminology, illustrate the process of setting up a new project in Project 2007, configure a calendar in Project 2007, add tasks to a project, and explain how to operate the Project Guide. This course explains the fundamentals of tasks and how to customize them to effectively utilize Project 2007. Lesson 2: Building a Project (2.0) hours

Building a Project teaches you how to demonstrate the fundamental customization of tasks, explain how to establish task timings, describe the process of creating and customizing recurring tasks and notes, illustrate how to create and modify dependencies, identify the process of assigning task constraints, and manage conflicts between constraints and dependencies. This course explains the fundamentals of tasks and how to customize them to effectively utilize Project 2007. Topics include Entering Tasks, Establishing Timing, Performing Other Task Operations, Creating Dependencies, Modifying Dependencies, and Establishing Task Constraints.

Lesson 3: Setting Up Resources and Establishing Costs (2.0) hours

Setting Up Resources and Establishing Costs teaches you how to add information to resources using the Resource Information dialog box, set project start and end dates for a resource, set work hours for a resource, block off vacation time for a resource, assign resources to a task, replace resource assignments, assign a fixed-cost resource to a task, view a project's estimated cost, set up resource rate changes, and provide for multiple resource rates. This course explains how to use Project 2007 to assign people and materials as resources to project tasks, manage the work hours of those resources, and configure and monitor project costs. Lesson 4: Viewing Projects (2.0) hours

Viewing Projects teaches you how to use views and combinations of views to organize and examine projects, discuss the use of tables and how to make table adjustments, examine how to use sorting and filtering to make information more understandable, and describe how to group tasks by common criteria. This course explains how to use views, tables, filters, and groups to focus on various sections of projects in Project 2007. Lesson 5: Resolving Scheduling and Resource Conflicts (3.0) hours

Resolving Scheduling and Resource Conflicts teaches you how to resolve resource conflicts, adjust project schedules and the critical path, identify resource conflicts, adjust resources and resource calendars, level resource assignments, and contour resource work patterns. This course explains various techniques used to adjust a project's schedule and resolve conflicts caused by the overallocation of project resources. Tracking the Progress of Projects teaches you how to track progress with a baseline, work with an interim plan, record actual start and finish dates, and remaining durations of tasks, update tasks with work completed, and track cost information and manually override cost values. In this course, you'll learn how to set a project baseline, enter tracking information, and calculate costs. This course explains the reporting features of Microsoft Office Project 2007 and describes the use and calculation of earned values. Lesson 8: Consolidating Projects (1.0) hour

Consolidating Projects teaches you how to describe and create subprojects, consolidate subprojects and manage their links, move subprojects and create dependencies between them, and connect and disconnect projects from resource pools. This course explains how to work with subprojects, how to create consolidated projects, and how to share resources between projects.
