Photoshop - Online Course

This series is designed to introduce users to the functions of Photoshop. An overview of managing graphics files is provided, including navigating the Photoshop interface, opening, closing, and saving files, and changing image resolution and size. An explanation of different graphics formats is provided. Other topics covered in this series include the color, paint, pen, and brush tools, selecting, cropping, and retouching images, and using text, files, and actions. Advanced features covered include creating and manipulating layers, using plug-ins, and the Transform command. Image manipulation techniques are also discussed, including lighting, sharpening, blurring, and adjusting focus.

This series is for anyone who wants to get the most out of using Photoshop. This online course contains 6 lessons and should take approximately 19 hours to complete.

Lesson 1: Managing Graphics Files (3.0) hours

Managing Graphics Files teaches you how to navigate the Photoshop interface, open, close, and save image files, describe the different types of graphics formats, and change the resolution and image size of a graphic. This course explains how to save, manage, and use graphics files and formats with Photoshop. Topics include Getting Around the Photoshop Screen, File Formats, Opening and Saving Images, Resolution and Resampling, and Upsampling and Downsampling.

Lesson 2: Colors, Brushes, and Printing (4.0) hours

Colors, Brushes, and Printing teaches you how to use the color selection tools, choose colors, use the paint and pen tools, manage the paint and brush options, use the print setup tools, and print graphic files. This course shows users how to use choose colors, use paint tools and brushes, and print graphic images in Photoshop. Topics include Color Modes, Choosing Colors, Using the Paint and Pen Tools, Using Paint and Brush Options, Preparing to Print, and Printing.

Lesson 3: Selecting and Retouching (2.0) hours

Selecting and Retouching teaches you how to select portions of an image, crop images, use selection tools, modify selections, select complex shapes, and retouch photographs with the Rubber Stamp tool. This course explains how to select and crop portions of an image file and how to touch up a scanned photograph using the Rubber Stamp tool. Lesson 4: Text, Fills, and Actions (4.0) hours

Text, Fills, and Actions teaches you how to create text in an image, modify text, fill regions of an image with color, create gradiated fills, manage the action history list, use Photoshop's preset actions, and create and run batch actions. This course shows how to use text and fill regions with color in Photoshop, as well as how to change actions in the History list and repeat batch actions. Lesson 5: Using Layers and Plug-Ins (4.0) hours

Using Layers and Plug-Ins teaches you how to create and use layers, link, merge, and flatten layers, create layer masks, blend and modify layers, use layer effects, use the Transform command, and use plug-ins. This course explains how to take advantage of layers and plug-ins in Photoshop. Lesson 6: Manipulating Images (2.0) hours

Manipulating Images teaches you how to adjust image tone, change color and spot toning, sharpen and blur an image, diffuse and alter focus of images, and use measurement tools for precise measurements in images. This course shows users how to use lighting, sharpening, and blur effects to change images. Topics include Adjusting Image Tone, Changing Color and Spot Toning, Sharpening an Image, Using the Sharpen Tool, Diffusing Images with Blur, Changing Focus and Blending Images, and Aligning Images with Measurement Tools.
