Notes 5 Programming - Online Course

This series provides an in-depth study of Lotus Notes R5. It provides an introduction to the application's interface and navigation, and covers personal organization utilities such as email, calendars, meetings and appointments, and Address Books in detail. Also covered is the use of Lotus Notes to browse the Web and manage documents. Advanced topics include searching databases, folder creation and management, views, agents, and database replication. An overview of using Notes remotely is also provided in this series.

This series is for programmers and advanced users who wish to develop advanced applications for Lotus Notes and Domino. This online course contains 6 lessons and should take approximately 22 hours to complete.

Lesson 1: Designing in Domino (4.0) hours

Designing in Domino teaches you how to use the features of Domino Designer, and create databases from templates and edit their properties. This course provides an overview of the Domino Designer interface and an introduction to Notes databases. Topics include The Domino Designer, Adding Databases to Your Application, Database Copies, Replicas, and Security, and Working with Database Designs.

Lesson 2: Pages and Forms (4.0) hours

Pages and Forms teaches you how to create high quality, Web-ready pages and forms, and create and use tables on pages and forms. This course explains what you need to know to create high quality, Web-ready pages and forms. Topics include Creating Pages, Including Graphics, Working with Tables, Adding Forms, and Form Actions and Subforms.

Lesson 3: Organizing Info (4.0) hours

Organizing Info teaches you how to get the most of views, and set up outlines, navigators, frames and hotspots. This course provides you with the tools for making information easy to find and easy to use. Topics include Developing Views, Programming Views, Using Outlines, Creating Frames, Adding Navigators, and Working with Hotspots.

Lesson 4: Scripting (3.0) hours

Scripting teaches you how to work with formulas, add scripts to applications, and understand the Domino Object Model. This course will introduce you to using scripts in your application and working with the Domino Object Model. Topics include Formulas, @Formulas, Adding Scripts to your Application, Domino Objects, and Programming Events.

Lesson 5: LotusScript (4.0) hours

LotusScript teaches you how to understand the elements of the LotusScript language, and create basic LotusScript programs. This course gives you the tools you need to create agents and scripts in LotusScript. Topics include Working with Variables, LotusScript Objects, Loops and Conditionals, Creating LotusScript Procedures, and Front-End Classes and LotusScript.

Lesson 6: Java (3.0) hours

Java teaches you how to understand how to use Java with Lotus, and create basic applets and work with the Back-End Classes. This course gives you the tools you need to create agents and scripts in LotusScript. Topics include Java in Domino, Java Agents and Applets, Java Applications and Servlets, and Back-End Objects and Java.
