Access 2002

This series shows how to create, plan, and modify databases and database objects in Access 2002. Courses cover the following topics: understanding relational databases, creating and planning databases, selecting and printing database objects, creating tables, entering records, modifying tables and field properties, using advanced sorts, finding records, applying and removing filters, establishing and managing table relationships, specifying query criteria, creating calculated fields, running multi-table queries, creating forms and reports, implementing standard and calculated controls in both forms and reports, importing data, saving Access objects as Web pages, and performing administrative tasks. This series is procedure focused and assumes that the student is familiar with the mechanics of getting around in a Microsoft Office application.

This series is for anyone who wants to get the most out of using Access 2002. This online course contains 8 lessons and should take approximately 22 hours to complete.

Creating Databases

This course shows users how to plan and create a database in Access 2002 and teaches you how to identify appropriate input and output for a database, plan a database, create a database with and without the wizard, and select and print database objects.

Building Tables

This course shows users how to create and populate database tables in Access 2002 and teaches you how to explain the structure of a table, the data types used in the table, and the function of primary keys, create a table using the wizard, and enter records into the table through a form or datasheet.

Modifying Tables

This course shows users how to edit table data, table structure, and field properties in Access 2002 and teaches you how to insert and delete records and fields, modify the appearance and structure of the table in Design View, change the size, format, and default value of fields, and use the Lookup and Input Mask wizards.

Sorting and Filtering

This course shows users how to find, filter, and sort records in Access 2002 and teaches you how to sort records, create advanced sorts, search for records, and apply and remove filters.

Relationships and Queries

This course shows users how to establish table relationships, perform join operations, and define and execute queries in Access 2002 and teaches you how to define table relationships, manage table relationships, display related records, specify query criteria, create calculated fields, and create and modify multi-table queries.

Building Forms

This course shows users how to create forms in Access 2002, to change the appearance of reports, and to add bound and unbound controls to reports and teaches you how to create a form, edit the form in design view, add and modify controls, and create and use calculated controls.

Producing Reports

This course shows users how to create reports with the Report Wizard, arrange and organize reports, and add bound and unbound controls to the report in Access 2002 and teaches you how to describe the components of reports, create a report using the Report Wizard, edit the report in design view, add and modify controls in a report, and create and use calculated controls in a report.

Advanced Tasks

This course shows users how to import data into Access databases, create Web hypertext pages based on Access objects, incorporate hyperlinks into Access objects, and perform administrative tasks such as backing up the database in Access 2002 and teaches you how to import data into a table, save an Access object as a Web page, add hyperlinks to an Access object, and back up, restore, and compact a database.
